Frequently Asked Questions
Do you allow water birth?
Of course! Our gorgeous birth suite tub is roomy and deep! Water in labor can be an invaluable tool for relieving the intensity of birth. If you don't make it into the tub during labor, an herbal bath with your baby can be a lovely way to recover.
Is there something for Pain Management?
Immersion in water has proven benefits for pain relief, relaxation, decreased anxiety, and increased birth satisfaction.
One-on-one continuous labor support with counter pressure, massage, and non-interventive presence per client preferences.
Homeopathics such as Aconite and Arnica.
Essential oils for pain and nausea such as Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint.
What is a free-standing birth center?
A freestanding birth center is a home-like healthcare facility that provides the midwifery model of care for low-risk clients during the pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum period.
As with most freestanding birth centers we are not connected to or affiliated with hospitals. We do however have a good working relationship with Mid Valley Hospital and pride ourselves on co-management of higher need care with Confluence Wenatchee and Eastside Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Where are you located?
We are located just off of Riverside Drive (Omak’s Main Street before it drops down). The birth center is on the corner of Maple Street and Riverside Drive.
Is out of hospital birth safe?
Birth centers across the nation and the world have proven to be exceptionally safe places to give birth. Here at Maple Street Birth Center, we have taken every possible step to assure the safe delivery of your baby.
A healthy pregnancy means a healthy birth, but we respect the gravity of birth and understand that even in low-risk moms there is a small chance of an emergency. Our skills make us experts in normal, low-risk pregnancy and delivery. This means that our job is, at its core, risk management and risk assessment. During your care, we are having ongoing conversations about your pregnancy, as well as monitoring for any signs that require additional attention. We are constantly assessing and reassessing your care and asking 'does this path we're on still look normal and low-risk five steps ahead? How about ten?'
If we ever have a feeling that your path is heading towards an unsafe place, we have a conversation about your options and what we can do to create a safer birth for you and baby. We will take note of any risk factors that you may have and we consult with maternal fetal medicine if necessary. We are trained in fetal heart assessment, IV therapies, life-saving medications, basic vital sign monitoring, and resuscitation to ensure that we are always ready for the unexpected. If at any point a change in birth setting is necessary, our transfer agreements with the local hospital assures that the process occurs in a streamlined and seamless way.
We are in network with Coordinated Care of Washington (Medicaid) and offer a discounted cash rate for those without insurance. We believe every woman deserves a midwife and to give birth in a place of their choosing. The Maple Street Birth Center strives to provide a tranquil setting for women to experience uninterrupted natural birth.
Our birth center is in network with most insurance plans. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide safe and affordable care.
